End of Forwarding University Emails to Private Addresses

21. 1. 2025

As of February 1, 2025, it will no longer be possible to forward university emails to private email addresses. This change is implemented to enhance data security, protect the university's critical infrastructure, and comply with legislative requirements.

Why is this change happening?

Forwarding work emails to private addresses presents significant security risks:

  • Cybersecurity Act (ZoKB): Forwarding emails to private accounts may violate Act No. 181/2014 Coll., as it compromises the security of information systems.
  • Critical Infrastructure Protection: Preventing the leakage of sensitive information and ensuring the reliability of university systems.
  • Personal Data Protection (GDPR): Forwarding to private addresses may lead to the leakage of sensitive data of students and employees.
  • Prevention of Phishing and Cyber Attacks: Private email accounts often lack sufficient protection against these threats.
  • Professional Communication: Using a university email address ensures a professional standard and allows better control and auditing of communication.

What to do next?

If you want to have your university emails available in your preferred email client, such as Gmail, we have prepared a simple guide for you:
How to add your MENDELU email to Gmail ( in Czech language, English version will be available soon).

If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to contact the university's IT department.

Your safety and the protection of university systems are our top priority. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
