University Service Entitlements
Below you can find an overview of entitlements to university services when the relationship with the university changes. We also recommend reviewing Accounts on university servers in UIS .
Most accesses remain unchanged:
- UIS - unchanged, all permissions are retained
- E-mail - alias@mendelu.cz remains active
- M365 - access to online (web) applications
- VPN - access remains active
- Shibboleth - access to databases (e.g. Web of Science)
Access that changes:
- M365 - license downgrade from A3-employee to A1-employee → Loss of access to desktop applications (Word, Excel...)
Account status verification:
- Account check in UIS - Account management
- Active employment contract = active accounts (e.g. m365-a1-zam)
Warning:
- The user is informed about account expiration by e-mail
- In case of login problems, contact the helpdesk
- Service entitlement is linked to a valid agreement (DPP / DPČ)
- M365 - license downgrade from A3-employee to A1-employee → Loss of access to desktop applications (Word, Excel...)
- VPN - access remains active
- Licenses and other services are available only with an active relationship with the university

- Entitlements resulting from student status remain valid
- M365 - student license A3
- Access to services authenticated through Shibboleth remains available
Microsoft 365
The account enters extended lifetime mode, during which it remains temporarily functional and the user is automatically informed about the status change and approaching end by a generated e-mail.
- Employee with M365 A1 - after the end of the employment relationship, the account remains functional for 30 days. If the user establishes a similar employment relationship within this period, the account including data is restored.
- External employee with M365 A1 - the account remains active for the period specified when the license was assigned. After expiration, it remains functional for 30 days.
- Employee with M365 A3 - after the end of the employment relationship, the account remains functional for 30 days. After the extended lifetime period ends, the account is deleted and the data is removed.
- Student with M365 A3 - the account is active during studies. After completing studies, the account remains functional for 30 days. After the extended lifetime period ends, the account is deleted and the data is removed.
University Information System (UIS)
The account on this system ensures, for example, the existence of login accounts for students with interrupted studies.
Who is entitled?
- Users on graduate internships
- All users (not cancelled)
Grace period in case of loss of entitlement:
- 180 days
VPN Login
This service provides authorization for remote login via VPN to the university network.
Who is entitled?
- vpn-staff (Employees)
- External staff (active) with a given classification (emeritus professor / external lecturer)
- All active university employees
- All university employees with suspended employment
- vpn-student (Students)
- All active university students
Grace period after loss of entitlement:
- vpn-staff: 3 days
- vpn-student: 1 day
Recommendations before termination of relationship:
- Back up your data from OneDrive, SharePoint and your e-mail mailbox in advance.
- Check the status of your accounts in UIS - Account management.
- If you need an extension or restoration of access, contact the helpdesk; for external employees, a request from the license guarantor is required.

*Licenses are available only to users with an active relationship with the university (student, employee, member of committees). After termination of the relationship with the university, the M365 user account remains functional for 30 days in an extended lifetime mode, after which the account is deleted and the data is removed.
